Visitors to Yanchep National Park will have even more to see and explore on Saturday, 1 February.
Jennifer Green from the Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW) said visitors to Yanchep National Park will have the opportunity to see not one, but three of the park’s caves.
“Crystal Cave, Yonderup Cave and Cabaret Cave will all be open to coincide with the Capricorn Festival which is being held at Old Nursery Park next month,” she said.
“The magnificent Crystal Cave will run its regular tours throughout the day and visitors can view a variety of distinct cave formations such as stalagmites, helictites, columns and shawls.
“Also, the rarely seen Yonderup cave will be open for torchlight tours, while the Cabaret Cave, which was originally modified in the 1930s as a venue for social dances and dinners and is today a popular venue for weddings and functions, will be open for viewing in the morning. Places are limited, so phone the park office to secure a spot.
“People will have the opportunity to see these unique natural attractions for themselves, as the cave system at Yanchep National Park is a real underground wonderland,” she said.
“This initiative is part of DPaW’s ‘Rediscover Parks’ campaign which is aimed at encouraging Western Australians to visit national parks. Spending time in natural environments is vital for physical and mental wellbeing.”
Park entry fees apply and all participants to Yonderup Cave must wear closed in shoes. Bookings can be made at McNess House Visitor Centre on the day.
To organise a time to view the amazing Cabaret Cave, or to find out about other tour times and prices phone the park office on 9303 7759.
“This will be a popular day, so to avoid disappointment, book your places early” Ms Green said.
